Teetering on the brink or way off in the distance?

All this stuff is out there in the public domain.

Who cares if they pull them from LMA?

That horse left the barn long ago. If they pulled the SBD's tomorrow it would just make one less reason to visit LMA.

They closed the backdoor on the soundboards a few months ago (downloading). I sometimes stream at work just because it's easier than finding shows among my many spindles of discs, but if the boards ever 'disappeared 'from LAMA I would just have to take the time to load some DVD's on to my i-pod for the weeks listening.

Wipe that grin right off your face
Before I throw you through the wall
No one needs a wise guy, Jack
Specially one don't check his facts

If by now we step by, then
Someday we may meet again
Who cares what you have to say?
Even this too shall pass away

Pass away, pass away
Even this too shall pass away
Hey, hey, crooked judge
Even this too shall pass away
Even this too shall pass away

Considering most new Forum threads are "How do I DL free SBD's?" I'd say the end is near. I was a newbie only recently, yet I never felt compelled to start a thread like that. Hmmm...?

Who are this "they" who say brinksmanship?

I really don't care if they shut down the streams....we'll all just go to Arb's house. That kid has everything.

He may resist, but show-up w/ a Baltic looker(yes, I said looker) and some hot tea and you're in, baby!

You'll have to pedal one of the exercise bikes which keep the electricity flowing, but at least you'll get your GD.

Everyone can't be as cool as your styrofoam.

My styrofoam isn't particularly cool... and I don't want everyone to be like me. Rather, I want them all to go to LOSTSAILORPUB ;)

yeah - atleast bubblewrap doesnt explode all over the floor when you tear open a box without first slicing all the nice packing tape.

Everybody knows that used Apache loincloths are the ONLY environmentally safe packing material. Styrofoam should really only be used for making cueballs...

cueball, those aren't anything new. Considering the shenanigans that get pulled around here(with multiple user names) to screw with people I never know if it's someone screwing with us or just a misinformed innocent newbie.

There's that too... if it's someone 'testing' us, and not newbs, that's even worse. But possible...

no doubt in my mind that that is the majority of where this stupid crap comes from. As much as I get annoyed it sure is sad that some people ( and one person probably the most ) are so lonely and screwed up that they need to get attention like that. I mean think about it, if it's only for perverse reactions why get them here with something so trivial? Why not go tick off someone with politics or religion? You'd get a much more dramatic response.

I second D on this one; we Forumites are always engaged in "brinksmanship" as they say...whether it be discussions of 68, Stalingrad, or stimulating the economy (or any number of other items deserving of stimulation).

i think it safe to say that most of "us" are "teetering on the brink" even if the SBDs are not.

Good argument about how the corporate beast may judge current interest based on the tour. Succesful Tour = Re-Awakened Interest = Scramble to Release Commercial Offerings = Free streamable SBD's ceasing to be. However, we may have a "Pay-Per-Stream" option appear. Brought to you by your friends at Rhino Records in collaboration with TicketMonster.

I'm in the minority here but it wouldn't be the end of the world for me if they did. I don't do a lot of streaming because my PC isn't hooked up to my stereo. Most of my listening comes in the car or hanging out on my back deck. Besides, I already have a bunch I never have even gotten around to. I also think for them to try and make much money on official releases is a joke. We're a fading fan base and let's face it Pandora's box was opened a LONG time ago. All of us could pick up what's out there via trade if we had too.Don't get me wrong I like instant gratification as much as anyone, but sometimes I think we've all been spoiled to the point where we no longer appreciate it.

The smart thing for them to do business wise is to do a pay as you go ( like a subscription based on bandwidth size or per show ). Think about it, no production costs and no trying to guess what people will go for. If they want to release stuff then how about stop F'n around and release things like video before we're all Dead ( no pun intended )? What's the hold up? David Lemieux said they have more footage from the Dead movie release. What are they waiting for? Who's not going to jump on that?

That last para is a good point. Isn't there some way we could lobby the GD organisation or Rhino to release some DVDs. I seem to remember an online petition got going when the boards were made off limits to downloaders here. A positive plea might result in a happier outcome.

Once the current tour has proven they can steal your wallet, I wouldn't be surprised to see them pulled.
Of course, if the current tour gets reviews like the last showings have, I suspect they may leave them up, and quit touring again.
Will they be good?
